The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) defines a residential building as one where 85 percent or more of its total floor area is dedicated to residential usage. CTBUH is a non-profit international organization formed in 1969 that decides which structure is officially the world's tallest residential building and sets the standards by which buildings are measured.
